14-15 October 2022
The Archive-opia WikiPavilion pops up in Kents Hill on the original exhibition site of FutureWorld - the last of three innovative housing expos in Milton Keynes, held in 1994. Displaying archive images, documents and a new interpretation of the ‘lost’ art trail, the programme also includes three newly commissioned short films, created by The Living Archive MK, documenting insightful conversations between several of the original architects and the current residents of the houses they designed. Visitors will also be able to explore FutureWorld once more with a self-guided FutureWorld map.
A series of three films have also been specially commissioned under the Archive-opia programme, featuring interviews between current residents and the original architects of some of the exhibition houses at FutureWorld.

Working with invited local schools, this artist-led workshop will explore the little known art trail that accompanied the launch of FutureWorld in 1994. Curated by the late Edna Read - a driving force behind the development of the arts in Milton Keynes - the trail featured 40 or so artworks including a half sunken caravan and a house without walls that were dispersed around the Expo site. Using photos, drawings, and archive documents from the time, local students will creatively re-imagine a new art trail for Kents Hill.
Archivist in Residence Alison Davies will lead an informal walking tour around the FutureWorld site. Joined by some of the original architects and artists involved, as well as current residents, and there will be an opportunity to learn more about this significant housing project and explore the interiors of several houses thanks to local residents. Limited number of places available, so early booking advised.
