Railway Cottages, Spencer Street was one of the streets built by the LNWR to house rail workers in the 1860s. It fell into disrepair and the surrounding streets were demolished, but MKDC decided to keep Spencer Street for heritage purposes. This coincided with a request from a group looking to set up a Housing Co-operative. Rainbow Housing Co-Op was set up in 1978 and is still going strong forty plus years later. Learn the history of the cottages and take a walk around the exterior.
